A Tribute to my Mother Betty "ELAINE" McGary.

Sunday, May 9, 2010 at 6:45am
Mother's Day...isn't that everyday? After all if you have children you will know that being a mother is an every day job...it's a forever and forever job..the best one I have ever had. It was a forever job for my mother..and boy or boy did she ever show me by her love. I always felt special..and I love her for that and so much more. My mother died several years ago from complications with her heart. I miss her. She was after all "My Mother"...(and my sister's and my brother's too.) She was the woman who took me to the Shores bakery and let me pick out my favorite butter cookies, who gave me fruit juice at Holy Cross Lutheran School for lunch when I could not drink milk (She worked there in the cafeteria)No one else got juice. She was the woman who took me to a dress shop in North Miami and brought me Five dresses for the new school year and put them on layaway..(which I always thought was the way everyone shopped ) No credit cards back then)..I can remember how happy I was ever year, when we went school shopping... I always thought I was luckiest kid around.. These are a few of the special one on one memories frozen in time. My Mother taught me and everyone else in the neighborhood how to do cartwheels, by showing us in the front yard. She taught me how to garden and landscape all at a very young age...I often see her now in her garden stance pulling out the weeds..lol..I do it myself now..She taught me how to work and work hard... how to love and give of myself freely to everyone..yes, even strangers... I could write for hours of all the things she taught me as the memories and life lessons come to life in my heart and mind. It's a different world now than the one I grew up in..most everything has changed in some way or ,but the role of a Mother has not. It is still a forever and forever job...One of sheer love..and joy...And because of this we honor our Mother's today..Happy Mother Day Mommy..I miss you..."Punkie"To all the Mother's ..I wish you enough....."I Wish You enough!" by Bob PerksI wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appearmuch bigger.I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.I wish you enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye." Mom, you honor your mother everyday with your own flair. She raised an amazing child and in doing so instilled her spirit in you, which you share with everyone you meet. You will forever have her memories with you and her love in your heart. She will forever be the amazing woman who made both of us feel like the "babies" are the favorites. She had... See More a way of making everyone feel special and loved. She is still with us....every time you find a penny.Love you always Mimi! To the moon and back.Ditto MomLovePunkie
